Next time you’re walking past the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and you feel you’re being followed – relax! It’s just Double-Taker, a robotic arm 2.5 metres long located on the building’s roof. Its gigantic and disconcerting eye is up there tracking all your movements. Its creator, Professor Golan created it to get us to reflect on the mass of technology which surrounds us every day. An endless battery of CCTV cameras that tracks each step we make and all our movements as we move around the city. At least Double-Taker does its job in an ironic way! It always appears to seem as surprised as we are by the encounter – as if to underline that in each of us there’s something special and unique. Happily we don’t always need a bendy tube with an eye to remind us of that!
